World Earth Day- Are we contributing enough!

Every year World Earth Day, is celebrated to embark and create better understanding, knowledge and development of various global environmental issues. As citizens of various nations, it’s really important that we understand the significance of this day and agendas behind it, so we can make our Mother Earth better place to live for all.
Every year this day is cerebrated for almost week to month involving various nations globally to address the global impact of environmental concerns like climate changes, pollution, air and water quality indices and healthcare access to individuals. This concept was bought down way back in 1969 in UNESCO conference, USA by peace activist John McConnell in the honour of earth and concept of peace. It was carried further with various themes every year. The landmark Paris agreement done in 2016 was signed to embark “Climate Protection treaty” by more then 120 nations.
It’s true that where lot of nations and governments keep emphasis on various aspects to protect our nature and our surrounding, it’s important to bring that very change starts from the individuals of the countries to make our planet clean and green. Various countries introduced number of programs to raise awareness among individuals. Remember the “ Clean India movement” actively initiated by Government of India.
The changes that each individuals can bring by doing simple things which probably don’t need to spend your enough time and money. It just the change of behaviour and attitude, which citizens need to incorporate to bring those changes for betterment. Simple measures like planting trees, keeping surrounding clean by appropriate waste disposal systems, efficient use of our energy resources and vehicles, preserving our water resources and use of green energy resources.
We need to really put great emphasis on control of various environmental pollution factors which are badly affecting the health of the society. The rise in air pollution gave rise to so many respiratory and lung problems leading to many allergic conditions as well as incidence of asthma has increased in children have increased. The environmental factors have badly influenced health as there is surge in cancers of various organs and obesity related metabolic disease which them self are equivalent to pandemic. Amidst this, the viral epidemic ( COVID-19) has become health care as well as economic burden for all the nations. This accumulated problems not only bring the burden to healthcare professionals and organisations but also economic burden to the individuals and governments

The key lies in preventative measures not only from the national and international policies but at individual levels. Let me give you example, whenever we see surrounding places are dirty, we often make remark about the local agencies who are responsible but we merely forget that when we can keep our homes clean why not our surroundings by just contributing what we can.
Judicious usage of energy resources, vehicles and other freely available services is necessity. We come across so many health blogs articles extensively available but it’s important we also read them and incorporate some good habits from them.
